Welcome to the Department of Mathematics at Eastern Mediterranean University. As Chair of the Mathematics Department, I am honored to lead a department that is both academically diverse and deeply committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Our department offers a rich portfolio of programs that reflect the evolving role of mathematics in today's world. In addition to our core Mathematics and Computer Science Bachelor degree, we proudly host specialized BSc programs in Actuarial Science, Statistics and Computer Science. These programs are designed to equip students with the analytical, quantitative, and computational skills needed to thrive in a wide range of professional fields from finance and insurance to data science and software engineering.
We are also a cornerstone of interdisciplinary education at EMU. The Department of Mathematics provides numerous service courses to departments across the university, supporting students in engineering, economics, business, architecture, health sciences, and more. These foundational courses ensure that all EMU students develop strong mathematical literacy and problem-solving abilities, regardless of their major.
In addition, we offer a variety of double major programs, enabling students to combine mathematics with other disciplines such as physics, banking and finance, etc. These flexible academic pathways allow students to broaden their expertise, deepen their understanding, and enhance their career prospects in an increasingly interdisciplinary world.
Our academic offerings extend beyond undergraduate education. The department provides advanced graduate programs, including Master's and PhD degrees in Mathematics and in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, and a master program collaborated with University of Pau and Pays De L'adour, Uppa, France, as well as a non-thesis Master's program in Information Systems. These programs are designed to foster research excellence, professional development, and innovation in both theoretical and applied domains.
Our faculty members are internationally recognized scholars and dedicated educators, actively engaged in research areas such as algebra, analysis, topology, approximation theory, numerical analysis, bioinformatics, process modeling, soft computing, theoretical computer science, differential equations, fractional calculus, systems and control theory, stochastic analysis and computational mathematics. Their commitment to mentorship and innovation fosters a vibrant academic environment where students are encouraged to explore, question, and grow.
Beyond the classroom, we host seminars, workshops, and collaborative projects that connect students with real-world challenges and global research communities. Our department maintains strong ties with industry and international institutions, offering opportunities for internships, exchanges, and joint research initiatives.
